Infinity Scarf – 1

I bought these lovely pieces of silk fabric at a vintage market in Frome, Somerset. I decided to make them into Infinity scarves.
The fabric is clearly inspired by 1920s fashion illustrations, depicting women in typical Art Deco or Flapper style with dropped waistlines, cloche hats, and stylish coats.

The figures are drawn in a manner strongly reminiscent of 1920s Art Deco fashion illustrations. This style was popular in magazines and sketches by artists like George Barbier or Erté.

• Fabric Design: The print features repeated scenes or vignettes, which is a common characteristic of novelty prints, often popular in the mid-20th century.
• Likely 1960s or 1970s Vintage: While the design is from the 1920s, the fabric itself—especially if silk with a novelty print like this—was often produced as a revival print in the 1960s or 1970s. These decades saw a resurgence of interest in Art Deco and the Roaring Twenties aesthetic.

The combination of the vibrant colours and the distinct black crosshatch pattern on some panels is characteristic of mid-century textile design applying a vintage theme.
